Home > Papua New Guinea Tahitian Vanilla Beans >

Tahitian vanilla comes from the fruit of an Orchid variety called Vanilla Tahitensis and it's main natural compounds are p-anisyl alcohol and vanillin (about 1.34% in our beans). Vanilla Tahitensis were mutated from vanilla planifolia beans in Tahiti & was introduced to organic farms in Papua New Guinea in the 1960's the term Tahitian refers to the species & not necessarily to the country of it's origin or were it is grown. Tahitian beans can be found in Tonga, Tahiti, Indonesia & Papua New Guinea. Tahitian beans are more delicate than Bourbon with a stronger nose, they are flowery, fruity and anisic with a smooth flavour, pastry chefs love to work with the Tahitian variety as they crave it's instant flavour burst without the lingering finish. We offer PNG Tahitian beans as a cheaper alternative to the true type Tahitian from Tahiti.
