Curry leaves are from a small tree that grows 4-6 metres tall native to India. They are highly aromatic, the flowers are small, white & fragrant. The small black shiny berries are edible but their seeds are poisonous. Sometimes they are called "sweet neem leaves". The leaves are highly valued as a seasoning in Southern & West Indian cooking & Sri Lankan cooking, much like bay leaves. Usually fried along with the chopped onion in the first stage of preparation.
